Event Description
The International Recovery Forum is an annual global forum convened by the International Recovery Platform (IRP) to promote international policy dialogue and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience on recovery preparedness and resilient recovery.
The International Recovery Forum 2027 is the first Forum since member states adopted the Priority Actions to Enhance Readiness for Resilient Recovery at the 2025 World Resilient Recovery Conference. With the outcomes of the High-Level Policy Dialogue on Resilient Recovery and the IRP Strategic Framework 2026-2030, the Priority Actions give countries an agreed basis for accelerating progress on Priority 4 of the Sendai Framework through 2030. This year the Forum turns to the governments responsible for putting them into practice.
The Midterm Review of the Sendai Framework found that most countries still lack effective pre-disaster preparedness for recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction. Since then, implementation has scaled up but remains uneven. Some governments have moved quickly to put readiness measures in place, while others face real constraints of capacity, resources and competing priorities.
Under the Priority Actions, IRP coordinates the review of progress through the annual IRP Forum. Senior officials responsible for national recovery systems will describe the reforms their governments have undertaken, what made progress possible and the obstacles they encountered. Representatives of countries that have recently gone through large-scale recovery will reflect on what those experiences revealed about the readiness measures in place and what they suggest about preparing for future disasters.
The Forum's findings will carry forward to the Regional Platforms for Disaster Risk Reduction in 2027 and to the final Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction before the Sendai Framework concludes in 2030.
