Western Washington University Haiti earthquake presentation
Two Western Washington University faculty members who carried out research in Haiti after it was devastated by an earthquake will report their findings Wednesday, March 17.
Scott Miles, director of Huxley College of the Environment's Resilience Institute, and Rebekah Green, institute associate director, will talk about disaster risk reduction in Haiti and Whatcom County at 7 p.m. in Bellingham City Council chambers, 210 Lottie St.
Miles and Green were part of a team of about a dozen earthquake disaster investigators organized by the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute as part of its Learning from Earthquakes program. During their week-long mission, researchers studied disaster management, recovery, and post-disaster needs.
