気仙沼市(けせんぬまし)は、宮城県の北東端に位置する市。太平洋沿岸にあり、三陸海岸の一部をなす。

2011年(平成23年)3月11日に発生した東北地方太平洋沖地震(東日本大震災)では、地震そのものの被害に加え、津波や火災(津波火災)、地盤沈下によって大きな被害を受けた。

Kesennuma is a city in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.

On March 11, 2011, large parts of the city were destroyed by the tsunami which followed the Tōhoku earthquake. The island of Ōshima and its 3,000 residents, included in the city limits, was isolated by the tsunami which damaged the ferry connections. After the tsunami, spilled fuel from the town's fishing fleet caught fire and burned for four days.

The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
