私たち日本人は災害に対応する基本的な姿勢として、米沢藩藩主上杉鷹山が提唱した「三助の精神」すなわち「自助」「共助」「公助」の考え方を共有しています。巨大災害時に地域社会がたくましく復旧を成し遂げるための「企業による共助（地域貢献と地域復旧対応）」を詳細に調べた成果に基づく発見について話します。
2004年の新潟県中越地震を「被災者」「支援者」「研究者」というさまざまな立場で経験した講師が振り返ります。震災復興支援チームと共に被災集落を周り、臨機応変な支援メニューを作成した経験から、地域を支える人材・コミュニティを育むことの大切さ、それらを支える制度や計画について話します。

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
