Mission

Jointly managed by the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) and the European Union (EU), NDF operates as a flexible instrument which responds to clearly specified needs of ACP states that anticipate the onslaught of a natural disaster, or is recovering from the negative long-term effects of a natural disaster. NDF promotes preventive initiatives, disseminates information, and develops and strengthens research and management skills.

Disaster Reduction Goal

NDF aims to provide comprehensive mechanisms to assist ACP States and Regions with: disaster risk reduction, preparedness and mitigation; response, recovery and long-term reconstruction and rehabilitation; and operating effective early warning systems that are people-focused, and completing vulnerability assessments and mapping.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
