Mission

HI is an independent and impartial aid organisation working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. HI works alongside people with disabilities and vulnerable populations, taking action and bearing witness in order to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights.

Disaster Reduction Goal
The main goal of Handicap International is to ensure the resilience of vulnerable groups and in particular people with disabilities through inclusion in all DRR services provided by national and international stakeholders.
DRR activities
Policies and Programmes in DRR

Handicap International has developed various inclusive DRR programme accross South and South East Asia and is extending activities to the carribean and West Africa focusing mainly on inclusive Community based DRR.

Membership in Key Networks

We are Core members of the Disability inclusive DRR Network (DIDRRN) for Asia and Pacific.
We are also members of VOICE and the BOND DRR group.

Other activities

Handicap INternational is focusing on the overall priorities of the HFA making sure they are all inclusive of vulnerable groups and in particular people with disabilties.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
