This is an assessment on the impact of Tropical Cyclone on Malawi's Culture and Heritage sector in May and June 2023.

The Malawi 2023 Tropical Cyclone Freddy Post-Disaster Needs Assessment report assesses the impacts of the disaster and provides recommendations for building back better in recovery and reconstruction.

The objective of the PDNA was to quantify the damage and loss resulting from the effects of heavy rains, floods and strong winds associated with Tropical Cyclone Idai, and to estimate the recovery and reconstruction needs.

Recovery efforts defined within the NDRF are guided by a central vision and goal. An initial vision and goal were determined following the 2015 floods; these have been updated in response to the 2015/16 drought.

This PDNA provides an analysis of the physical, socioeconomic, and human impacts of the 2015-2016 drought in Malawi. It analyzes the challenges and lessons from the ongoing drought response and provides recommendations for improved drought resilience.

This Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) is conducted by the Government of Malawi with technical and financial support from the European Union (EU), the United Nations (UN) and the World Bank (WB) following the floods in 2015.

The PDNA report indicates that the Malawi 2015 floods affected 1,101,364 people, displaced 230,000 and killed 106 people. The assessment focuses on medium to long term reconstruction and provides the guiding principles for recovery.
