Mission

The Department of Civil Protection of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers is the operational arm of the Prime Minister of Italy, when it comes to addressing the problems of protecting the people and assets of the country subjected to particular threats and dangers deriving from natural or environmental conditions.

The Department is the national body in Italy that deals with the prediction, prevention and management of emergency events. The main goal is to protect the sake of life, the properties, the settlements and the environment from damages and dangers.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
