Mission

The NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) is the specialized disaster management force of India. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is the superintending authority over the NDRF as per the Disaster Management Act 2005 (amended in 2025). 

There are total 16 battalions of NRDF stationed in various locations of the country. Every battalion has a total 1149 personnel strength. To train the NDRF personnel's there is a dedicated training institute called NDRF Academy (Formerly Civil Defence Academy).

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
