Mission

Shelter Centre is an international humanitarian NGO based in Switzerland which does not implement operations directly, dedicated instead to supporting collaboration, consensus, and capacity throughout the global humanitarian community of practice. Shelter Centre connects and supports the humanitarian shelter community responding to settlement and reconstruction needs after conflicts and disasters.

Shelter Centre is responsible for maintaining the Humanitarian Library.

Shelter Centre's vision is that all stakeholders collaborate in technical learning within an inclusive community of practice, using consistent approaches, prioritising needs together, informed by collective experiences. Its mission is to support impartially all stakeholders involved in transitional settlement and reconstruction in their work to save lives and reduce suffering, supporting the recovery and resilience of those affected.

DRR activities

Shelter Centre supports the humanitarian sector actors who respond to the transitional settlement and reconstruction needs of populations affected by conflicts and natural disasters, from the emergency phase until durable solutions are reached.

The organization has no registered commitments.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
