Mission

The objectives of SADC underscore the need to ensure that poverty alleviation is addressed in all activities and programmes with the ultimate objective of eradicating it. HIV/AIDS is as a major threat to the attainment of the objectives of SADC and therefore is accorded priority in all programmes and activities.

The SADC Mission is to promote sustainable and equitable economic growth and socio-economic development through efficient productive systems, deeper co-operation and integration, good governance, and durable peace and security, so that the region emerges as a competitive and effective player in international relations and the world economy.

The Impact of Covid-19 on Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in Southern Africa: Country Experiences and a Focus on Building Back better in Mauritius
This seminar aims to achieve several objectives, including: promote the sharing of experiences by both the public and private sector on the impact of Covid-19 on MSMEs in Southern Africa, highlighting commonalities and differences in response strategies that were deployed to minimize impacts; stimulate reflections on how MSMEs in Southern Africa can best build back better, especially in the context of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), other trade agreements and regional collaboration.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
