SRSA is a national authority that is active in many areas of expertise, for example, through preventive methods working towards reducing the number of emergencies and their consequences and thereby making society safer. SRSA also takes an active role in international cooperation on issues related to emergency prevention, preparedness and response and maintains a high level of preparedness for humanitarian relief missions in the event of overseas disasters.

In order to increase the quality of capacity development projects, the SRSA has, in close cooperation with ISDR, OCHA and UNDP, developed an overview course on disaster risk reduction, response and recovery.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
