This handbook provides solid advice to practitioners and policymakers who are faced with complex, uncertain circumstances of  the immediate and long-term impacts of disaster interventions that must be dealt with quickly and effectively. The toolkit promotes the formation of locality specific culturally relevant interventions that engage with local people as equal partners in the formulation and implementation of policies which help to reduce future risk and foster post-disaster reconstruction.
