Participatory risk, capacity and vulnerability analysis: a practitioner manual for field workers

Source
Action Against Hunger International

This manual is intended to provide methodological and practical guidance to ACF field workers on how to implement Participatory Capacity and Vulnerability Assessment (PCVA) so as to design and initiate stand-alone or mainstreamed DRM actions at the community level. The guiding questions of the manual serve to examine the factors of risk and vulnerability at multiple levels so that risk reduction measures and the outcomes of the PCVA are integrated into the development or recovery process of the community.

It is comprised of three main sections: (i) the first section explains the concepts of DRM and how Action Contre La Faim (ACF) addresses DRM; (ii) the second section explains how PCVA can be used as a tool to reduce risk, who to involve in PCVA, and when to conduct PCVA; (iii) the third section explains how to conduct PCVA and how to analyze the results.
