Rapid Shelter/NFI Needs Assessment of Temporary Shelters in Protracted IDP Camps Sittwe and Pauktaw Townships - Rakhine State - Myanmar Sep 2024

This report provides a summary of findings from the exercise conducted by Shelter partners in May 2024 in 16 camps, located in Sittwe and Pauktaw townships, hosting stateless people displaced following communal violence in 2012.  Shelter Cluster partners conduct rapid shelter/NFI needs assessments every year to prioritize shelter reconstruction activities.

The assessment was conducted through in-person observation of all longhouses by shelter cluster engineers' on-the-job orientation to camp-based staff using a standardized assessment form. The exercise was focused on longhouses in 16 camps located in Sittwe (12) and Pauktaw (4) townships. Longhouses are 8 units and 10 units temporary shelters that host between 40 and 50 individuals each. Camps with individual shelters (Nget Chaung 1 (NC1) which is not able to conduct this exercise due to access challenges and security concerns.
