This brief presents UNDP work with its partners on disaster risk reduction (DRR) and recovery in more than 100 countries, promoting the importance of investing in DRR and effective disaster recovery in achieving the Millennium Development Goals. It describes the correlation between disaster and development and asserts that disasters are not natural. It then presents the drivers of risks and UNDP's approach to DRR and recovery.
