Global facility for disaster reduction and recovery annual report 2008:

This report addresses the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR)'s activities in mainstreaming disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation in development for 2008. It features how GFDRR increased its strategic partnerships with organizations in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America to expand regional, national, and local capacities to respond to disaster risks and adapt to the impacts of climate change, both ex ante and ex post.

GFDRR is providing $43.5 million to 54 countries for risk assessment, risk mitigation, risk financing, emergency preparedness, and institutional capacity-building programs to strengthen resilience. Government disaster risk management officials are involved in all 75 GFDRR projects; local UN offices are important partners as well.
