Invest today for safer tomorrow: issue 1, July-September 2009

Source
European Commission
United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction - Sub-Regional Office for Central Asia (historical record)

This document is the first issue of a quarterly information bulletin that covers progress in the implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA) in five countries of Central Asia. It also provides information related to disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation from regional and global partners.

This issue addresses the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction 2009 edition, the Central Asian regional conference on seismic safety, and response to risks in Central Asia.

The series aims at enhancing public awareness and promoting disaster risk reduction as a political priority as it is a relatively new concept for the broader public, and knowledge on how to reduce vulnerabilities and risk is still not widely and well known.
