Report on the 2008 great Sichuan earthquake

Source
United Nations Centre for Regional Development

This assessment report of the 2008 earthquake in China is part of UNCRD's research project on community-based disaster prevention and housing earthquake strengthening projects. It reviews the recovery plan for urban and rural housing reconstruction, which also aims at spreading knowledge on disaster prevention and reduction and boosting awareness of all the people about disaster prevention and reduction, and presents findings from four research endeavours conducted on damage from the Wenchuan earthquake centred in the Sichuan province which occurred on May 12, 2008. It thus calls people in each community to have the will to develop a disaster prevention and reduction-conscious town.
