The resilience report: disaster displacement

This report identifies how Americans understand the correlation between disasters and housing displacement and how these situations will be handled. The report provides an overview of how Americans (and Californians) view their current state of disaster preparedness – from their personal finances, to housing to community involvement – and the vital role that community involvement plays in resilience and recovery.

Some key findings from the report include:

• More than 2 in 5 Americans (46%) don’t believe their community is structurally or financially prepared to handle a natural disaster
• Nearly half (48%) are worried about the potential displacement of homeowners/renters
• Nearly 1 in 5 (18%) have $0 in savings that could be used to recover from a natural disaster.
