This is the Final Report of the Expert Group Meeting on Urban Regeneration as a tool for Inclusive and Sustainable Recovery, held on December 2021 (Bilbao, Spain), organised by UN-Habitat (Inclusive, Vibrant Neighbourhoods and Communities Flagship Programme), with the support of the Government of the Basque Country (Spain).

This report summarizes the proceedings of the two-day meeting, highlighting key messages, discussion points, best practices and recommendations from experts and participants. The debate focused on Urban Regeneration an integrative and dynamic process crucial for addressing rapid urban challenges like climate change, urban health, and spatial inequalities. The sessions covered a wide array of topics, including innovative financing models, community participation, and governance frameworks necessary for effective urban regeneration. It was highlighted that regeneration projects should incorporate environmental, social, economic, and cultural dimensions to ensure holistic community development.
