Disaster management and risk reduction: strategy and coordination

Source
International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC)

Plan 2010-2011:

This paper presents the International Federation's disaster management (DM) and risk reduction global plan for 2010, which prioritize interventions and expected outcomes in the following sectors and areas: (i) community preparedness and risk reduction; (ii) disaster services; (iii) shelter and settlement; (iv) logistics; and (v) Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF). It aims at identifying gaps in information and knowledge management across sectors, as well as supporting funding for community resilience interventions and other DM interventions.

The plan intends to provide the International Federation with the capacity to mitigate against, prepare for and respond to disasters worldwide and across all levels – household, community, national, regional and international. It does not only provide the framework for the specific sector plans listed above, but also focuses on the delivery of initiatives of a global nature and scope.
