Core commitments for children in humanitarian action
This latest edition of the the Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian Action – the CCCs – brings UNICEF’s humanitarian policy in line with evolving humanitarian contexts, including humanitarian reform and the cluster approach, informed by field-based evidence and practice. It includes references to strengthening UNICEF’s programming framework affirming that the CCCs are an integral component of UNICEF’s country programmes because they recognize the link between humanitarian action and development, and provide an explicit focus on disaster risk reduction, among others.
The CCCs constitute UNICEF’s central policy on how to uphold the rights of children affected by humanitarian crisis. They are a global framework for humanitarian action, around which UNICEF seeks to engage with partners. The intent of the updated CCCs remains to promote predictable, effective and timely collective humanitarian action, and to clearly outline the areas in which UNICEF can best contribute to results.
