This report contains the compilation of the Joint Rapid Needs Assessment (JRNA) -Phase 01 actions in the state of Manipur, India, in the aftermath of the Earthquake of 6.7 magnitudes on the Richter scale that hit Manipur on 4 January 2016.
As per the preliminary earthquake report of the Indian Meteorological Department, Govt. of India, the epicentre of the earthquake is approximately Noney in the Tamenglong district of Manipur state. The epicentre was 33 km WNW from Imphal, the capital of Manipur. Tremors were felt throughout the North East of India, Myanmar and Bangladesh.
Due to the adverse situation and impact of the earthquake, thousands are left homeless and displaced. The affected populations take shelter in schools, community halls, waiting sheds, Clubs, relatives' houses, churches, etc. The State Government provided food items, Tarpaulin sheets, Tarpaulin ground sheets, Emergency torch lights, and Sintx water tanks to the earthquake-affected people.
