日本学術会議 Science Council of Japan
Mission
日本学術会議は、科学が文化国家の基礎であるという確信の下、行政、産業及び国民生活に科学を反映、浸透させることを目的として、昭和24年（1949年）１月、内閣総理大臣の所轄の下、政府から独立して職務を行う「特別の機関」として設立されました。職務は、以下の２つです。
- 科学に関する重要事項を審議し、その実現を図ること。
- 科学に関する研究の連絡を図り、その能率を向上させること。
日本学術会議は、我が国の人文・社会科学、生命科学、理学・工学の全分野の約87万人の科学者を内外に代表する機関であり、210人の会員と約2000人の連携会員によって職務が担われています。
日本学術会議の役割は、主に以下の4つです。
- 政府・社会に対して日本の科学者の意見を直接提言
- 市民社会との対話を通じて科学への理解を深める
- 地域社会の学術振興や学協会の機能強化に貢献
- 日本を代表するアカデミーとして国際学術交流を推進
The Science Council of Japan was established in 1949 as a special organization independent from the government but under the jurisdiction of the Prime Minister, with the purpose of reflecting and permeating science in administration, industry, and national life, based on the belief that science is the foundation of a cultural nation. Its duties include deliberating on important scientific matters to realize their goals and coordinating scientific research to improve efficiency. Its roles include directly proposing opinions of Japanese scientists to the government and society, deepening understanding of science through dialogue with civil society, contributing to the academic promotion of local communities and strengthening the functions of academic societies, and promoting international academic exchange as Japan's representing academy.
Voluntary Commitments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
