This document presents six resolutions and conclusions of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly related to different subjects, including post-disaster reconstruction and rehabilitation in Haiti, and the link between poverty and natural disasters. It urges the EU to work with the Haitian authorities to establish a disaster prevention and mitigation mechanism and capacity management for the long term, emphasising that reconstruction efforts must be based on national priorities.

It also presents the conclusions of the EU Strategy for the Pacific and calls for further information - in terms of both funding for and coordination with - from EU and regional initiatives and programmes such as the EU Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction in developing countries and the Comprehensive Disaster Management Framework and Strategy, among others. It also addresses climate change and disaster risk reduction as an area of intervention within the priorities set by the Pacific region and reflecting its needs to develop further in a sustainable way.
