Zimbabwe rapid impact needs assessment
In April 2019, following Cyclone Idai, the Government of Zimbabwe initiated a joint exercise to assess the losses and damages arising from the cyclone and to develop a strategy for immediate recovery and longer-term resilience building. The result was the Zimbabwe Rapid Impact and Needs Assessment (RINA)—an effort to assess and quantify cyclone recovery and resilience building needs across ten sectors (transport, agriculture, housing, environment, water supply and sanitation, health, disaster risk management, education, energy, and displacement).
For each sector, the RINA provides background and pre-disaster context, information on the impact on the sector, and recovery and resilience needs. It follows these by outlining a medium-term disaster recovery and resilience strategy.
