This brief provides an overview of challenges in disaster reconstruction and recommendations as they relate to recovery spending for the 2017 floods in Peru.

This document has been produced as quick, at-a-glance summary of a Zurich Flood Resilience Alliance Post Event Review Capability (PERC) study analyzing the 2017 “El Niño Costero” floods in Peru. The PERC provides research and independent reviews of large flood events. It seeks to answer questions related to aspects of flood resilience, flood risk management and catastrophe intervention. It looks at what has worked well (identifying best practice) and opportunities for further improvements.
