This course is designed to enable the non-technical emergency worker to acquire skills in the use of mitigation. The course provides training in how to perform mitigation activities fundamental to reducing and eliminating long-term risk from hazards. It addresses the important roles of the personnel with diverse background who are involved in some manner with mitigation such as: motivator, coordinator, and monitor in the local implementation of the National Mitigation Strategy. The goals of this course are to: Motivate participants to create safer communities by addressing and mitigating hazards; Explore the important roles of the emergency program manager in mitigation: Motivator, coordinator, and monitor; Enable participants to carry out mitigation responsibilities in accordance with applicable regulations and standards.
