Mission

The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) has set forth the following fundamental goals with the context that the achievement of a sustainable society has become a common issue for humankind. The sustainable society, however, cannot be achieved by scientific research and technological development alone. It must be accomplished by changing the human activities we engage in everyday. It can be achieved only by transforming the actual industrial activities:
(1) To improve our society by advancing industrial science and technology in Japan
(2) To strengthen the international competitiveness of the Japanese industry
(3) To achieve a sustainable society

The organization has no registered commitments.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
