Scientific-Professional Society for Disaster Risk Management is a Serbian (Belgrade) non-governmental organisation that seeks to improve the existing supply of theoretical knowledge in the field of risk management in disasters. The Scientific and Professional Society for Disaster Risk Management has more than 500 members, consisting of professors, researchers, practitioners, and students who directly or indirectly deal with research and specific activities in the field of emergency situations, members of emergency services, citizens, and all interested students from different Faculties (http://upravljanje-rizicima.com).
1. Basic security training in the field of disasters
The training was realized on Stara Planina in the period from July 13 to 16, 2019. Unselfish support for the realization of the training was given by the Academy of Criminalistic and Police Studies in Belgrade, the Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Center in Nis and the Serbian Rescue Team. In the implementation of the training participated prof. dr Boban Milojković from the Academy of Criminalistic and Police Studies, Prof. dr Vladimir M, Cvetković and Professor Snežana Rajičić. The training was attended by more than 60 participants from various faculties in the Republic of Serbia. Upon completion of the training, the participants were solemnly handed certificates. During the training, various activities in the field of emergency situations were realized: protection and rescue in inaccessible terrains, protection and rescue of people under the rubble, protection and rescue in emergencies caused by fires and explosions, first aid, rescue from heights (mountaineering), orientation on unknown land using a topographic map and modern devices for orientation and positioning and other activities. 3. Orientation training for protection and rescue in disasters
On March 16, 2019, from 10:30 am in Kosutnjak, training of members of the general-purpose civil protection units of the Scientific-Professional Society for Disaster Risk Management in disasters was held. Topic: Orientation for the needs of protection and rescue in emergency situations. Guest prof. dr Boban Milojković, full professor at the Academy of Criminalistic and Police Studies. Members of the Scientific-Professional Society for Disaster Risk Management had the opportunity to get acquainted with the basic elements of topography and the use of the map when planning protection and rescue in emergency situations.
4. Decision on the establishment of a civil protection unit of the Scientific and Professional Society for Risk Management in Emergency Situations
Starting from the importance of educating students for disaster risk reduction and raising the level of their ability to respond to such situations, the Scientific-Professional Society for Disaster Risk Management pursuant to the Law on Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Management has decided to establish a civil union with general-purpose protection, which will consist of all interested students of the University of Belgrade, the Faculty of Security, the Faculty of Geography, Forestry and Agriculture, the Academy of Criminalistic and Police Studies and other related faculties. In accordance with their function and purpose, all students will be trained (education, continuous training) and equipped (personal protective equipment) to perform civil protection activities. For all realized training and activities, students receive certificates. All members complete the training and are trained to perform the tasks, and are hired at the assessment of the operational headquarters of the NSDR-URVS, as well as at the request of the competent state authorities to provide assistance in emergency situations. 5. Lecture - Natural disasters
The lecture Natural disasters - challenges for society and security was held at the research station Petnica (ISP) in Valjevo. The research station is an independent institution that deals with the development of scientific culture, scientific literacy, education, and culture. ISP activities are mostly focused on young people - pupils and students, as well as on teacher training in new techniques, methods, and contents in the field of science and technology. 6. Training in the field of emergency response in inaccessible terrains
On Friday, March 8, 2019, the first training in the field of emergency response was held on Kosutnjak on inaccessible terrains. Members of the general-purpose civil protection unit got acquainted with basic mountaineering techniques and the use of equipment, the role of drones in emergency situations, and at the same time fitness training was held. Dragana Rajblović participated in the realization of the training, the first woman from Serbia to climb the highest peak in the world, Mount Everest, and she is a member of the team for rescuing from the ruins.

7. The scientific-professional society for disaster risk management presents with pride and satisfaction the new book "Security risks and disasters" assist. prof. Vladimir M. Cvetkovic. The book will be officially available to the general public in early February 2021. Guided by many years of experience in working with students in the field of disaster studies, there are teaching, scientific and pedagogical conditions for writing a practicum "Security risks and disasters".
8. The third basic safety training in the field of protection and rescue in emergency situations
The scientific-professional society for disaster risk management organized the third basic security training in the field of protection and rescue in emergency situations in the period from October 29 to November 1, 2020, in the Ovčar-Kablar gorge.
Starting from the elaboration of basic safety training, the participants attended courses in the field of mountaineering and rescue on inaccessible terrains, diving and rescue on water and underwater, handling and manipulation of weapons, application of police powers and police tactics in emergency situations, topography, survival. , machine shops, etc. All participants in the training, after successful implementation, received a certificate confirming the level of their training for protection and rescue in emergency situations.
Numerous instructors from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Sector for Emergency Situations, the Serbian Rescue Team of Serbia, the Serbian Red Cross, the Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Center, and instructors from the Academy of Criminalistic and Police Studies and the Faculty of Security, University of Belgrade participated in the training.
9. Published by the Scientific-Professional Society for Disaster Risk Management, author assist. prof. Vladimir M. Cvetković published the book - Disaster Risk Management.
The special contribution of the textbook is reflected in the fact that it is a relatively young scientific discipline in our region as well as the first part in which systematically and comprehensively elaborates all measures and activities that modern catastrophe risk managers have to take at different stages (mitigation, preparedness, response and the recovery) of modern disaster management to prevent or reduce the negative consequences of the increasing frequency of natural and man made hazards. The textbook is intended for students of basic and master academic studies at the Faculty of Security, University of Belgrade, the Criminal Police University, as well as to a wider professional audience (members of the emergency services, etc.), who are increasingly faced with the need for a more thorough understanding of the problem of a multidisciplinary approach in the identification process, disaster risk analysis and treatment. The content of the textbook is in line with the curriculum of the subject “Disaster Risk Management”, which is taught in the third year of basic academic studies of the Faculty of Security.
10. International Institute for Disaster Research (Međunarodni institut za istraživanje katastrofa)
The scientific-professional society for disaster risk management has founded the INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR DISASTER RESEARCH, based in Belgrade, Zvezdara. All quantitative and qualitative research in the field of disaster studies will be conducted within the international institute. Also, in the next period, it is expected to announce a public competition for the admission of young researchers in various positions.

Seminar topic - PROTECTION AND RESCUE TACTICS IN DISASTERS: EXPERIENCES FROM THE FIELD AND THE RECOMMENDATIONS. Seminar participants, besides theoretical lectures, will participate in practical exercises and all departures will receive a certificate with an accompanying document describing activities and subjects of lectures.
Seminar participants will have the opportunity to learn and exchange opinions with executives and experts from different organizations of importance for RS's security in emergencies. Also, all registered and interested students and experts can participate in writing and delivering works for the planned assembly of works - Protection and Rescue Tactics in Emergencies: field experiences and experiences, which will be edited by Dr. Vladimir M. The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
