The Cambodia Post-Flood Relief and Recovery Survey 2012 had the main objectives of collecting timely information on household- and individual-level food security, nutrition, health, and livelihood measures among flood-affected provinces, assessing household characteristics such as composition, possessions, and wealth, and identifying household and community needs to inform the transition from relief to recovery phase activities.

The survey findings highlighted that the floods disproportionately displaced the poorest households, with nearly 20 percent of the poorest households forced from their homes compared to just one percent of the richest households. Additionally, the effects of the floods on households living within 250 meters of the peak-flood boundary were extensive, impacting their coping strategies and financial situations, emphasizing the importance of external support and tailored response activities to address the diverse needs of the affected population for future disaster preparedness and recovery efforts.
