Post tsunami reconstruction: manual for supervisors and project staff

Source
South Indian Federation of Fishermen Societies

This manual deals with the construction techniques and materials which are being used in the SIFFS tsunami housing reconstruction projects. The biggest challenge the building industry in India is facing today is to ensure good quality in construction. The durability of a building is highly dependent on the quality of workmanship and the design details.

The manual is intended for the engineers, supervisors, masons, contractors and others who are involved in the reconstruction project for the tsunami victims in the villages of Tarangambadi and Chinnangudi in Nagapattinam District. They are the people who are in the field and their skill upgradation and conviction about the “whys” are important to ensure the quality of construction.
