Tbilisi Disaster Recovery and Vulnerability Reduction Plan 2015
The 2015 Tbilisi Disaster Recovery and Vulnerability Reduction Plan was developed in response to the severe flash flood that struck Georgia’s capital city, Tbilisi, in June 2015. This disaster resulted in human loss and significant infrastructure damage.
The report aimed to assist the Government of Georgia and the Tbilisi Municipality in creating a comprehensive recovery framework. This framework would guide the restoration of affected areas, reconstruction of damaged infrastructure, and rehabilitation of communities impacted by the flood.
In addition to recovery efforts, the plan emphasized the need for vulnerability reduction. This involved measures to enhance disaster risk reduction at the municipal level.
The disaster recovery plan aimed to build resilience, minimize future vulnerabilities, and create a safer environment for Tbilisi’s residents. By addressing both short-term recovery needs and long-term risk reduction, it sought to ensure the city’s preparedness for any future emergencies.
