Mission

According to the President’s Decree of December 24, the Ministry for Emergencies of Ukraine has been reorganized into the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine provides the state policy implementation in the sphere of:
protection of population and territories from the emergencies;
fire-prevention and fire-fighting;
provision of industrial safety;
hydrometeorological activity.

Disaster Reduction Goal

The Government of Ukraine, through its State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the aftermath of the 2008 floods has expressed strong commitment to work towards the prioritization of risk reduction and towards the integration of risk reduction principles in the country’s policies and practices with regard to natural disasters. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has been tasked by the Government to coordinate all work related to implementation of the Hyogo Framework for action. The SESoU is currently performing a review of current programmes with the aim to reorient them towards risk reduction objectives.

Voluntary Commitments

The organization has no registered commitments.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
