Proudly independent, SGS Economics and Planning (SGSEP) explores and creates solutions to social, economic and environmental issues that impact communities across Australia and overseas. With evidence and insight, the organization helps public and private sector leaders make informed decisions and shape sustainable places, communities and economies.
Why SGSEP works
A certified B Corp, the organization is part of a global movement of people using business as a force for good in the world. SGSEP works first and foremost for the public interest and aspires to provide Australia’s best independent policy advice.
SGSEP's team
Exploring and creating solutions to complex issues is no simple task. But SGSEP is committed to the challenge. It consists of a cohesive team of economists, planners, mathematicians, researchers and spatial analysts from a diverse mix of public agency, private consultancy and business backgrounds. As a team, the organization is driven by a collective desire to shape a more equitable, prosperous and sustainable world.
How SGSEP works
Its values are the reason it is in business and its purpose-driven structure puts people rather than profits first.
SGSEP doesn't have formal departments. Instead, it forms agile teams to thoroughly research, analyse and create real-world solutions with its clients. Also important is its commitment to helping clients develop their own skill and capability.
To have more impact, the organization challenges conventional thinking and seeks to develop new ways of solving problems. It invests in innovation and self-funded research and development. As a digital leader, the organization uses advancing technology and digital tools to make complex data both meaningful and straightforward.
Who SGSESP works with
The organization works with people who shape places, communities and economies across all tiers of government, universities, peak bodies, not-for-profit organisations, the development industry, and other private businesses and consultancies.
What it does
Its diverse services intersect across the public policy decision-making process: research and analysis, planning and strategy, policy and governance, appraisal and evaluation, and data and spatial analytics.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
