This document brings together messages from donors, INGOs, advocacy groups and research organisations, contributing a concise article indicating the failures and successes they have observed over this first year of disaster response, and their opinions on what must be done to achieve holistic and sustainable recovery, including reflections related to the "building back safer" methodology for a more resilient Haitian state and safer housing and infrastructure. It was created to gather anniversary statements from organisations working in or monitoring Haiti in a concise and digestible format.

It contains 6 short articles: (i) Audience research in a time of cholera: focus group and survey on Haiti's frontline, by Internews; (ii) When communicating really matters: the experience of CDAC in Haiti, by the Inter-Agency Working Group on Communicating with Disaster Communities (CDAC); (iii) The communications agenda, by DG ECHO; (iv) Researching response and recovery, Haiti: an urban earthquake during a chronic emergency, by Kate Crawford, INGO Shelter Advisor for Haiti; (v) Fooling the sun, not fooling the rain, by the Haiti Support Group/HSG; and (vi) Haiti: the state of the future, by the New Internationalist.
