Impact 2011: Examining a year of catastrophes through the lens of resiliency

This report is in part a catalog of how different natural catastrophes have affected the world, but more importantly, it’s a platform for recognizing common themes and ultimately, a framework to understand how resilience can be improved in communities: building codes aimed at performance in addition to life-safety, preparedness that addresses the range of entities at risk, and flexible and adaptable recovery capabilities responsive to the unique conditions that natural catastrophes present.
