JICA’s cooperation on disaster management: towards mainstreaming disaster risk reduction – building disaster resilient societies

This publication illustrates JICA’s efforts at mainstreaming disaster risk reduction (DRR) through its various programmes and initiatives. It offers a comprehensive cross-mixing of themes related to the Post-2015 Framework for DRR (HFA2) as well as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and mainly focused on the Asia-Pacific Region.

Specifically, the publication focuses on the Agency's efforts in providing support to developing countries by setting up and advocating strategies to contribute to the sustainable development of the countries mentioned in this document, specifically: Bangladesh, Chile, Indonesia, Japan, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam, as well as local societies by documenting lessons learnt from past disasters, widely sharing for future possible disasters, investing in DRR and preparing for future disasters.

Coverage of specific disaster hazards include: cyclones, earthquake, flood and tsunami.
