The royal commission into national natural disaster arrangements report
This report's central task is to inquire into, and report on, national natural disaster arrangements – that is, arrangements involving all levels of government, the private and not-for-profit sectors, communities, families, and individuals. These arrangements concern all phases of disaster management: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.
It focuses on broader questions of national arrangements and responsibilities in relation to all phases of natural disasters – before, during and after – to consider whether these existing arrangements are as effective as they can be in a future of more frequent, more severe, compounding natural disasters.
The report is divided into 24 chapters, with a summary and specific recommendations on each of them.
