Support for Social Recovery Needs of Vulnerable Groups: Stakeholder Engagement Plan For the Additional Financing
This report focuses on the social recovery needs of vulnerable groups in Lebanon following the compounded crises of the financial collapse, COVID-19 pandemic, and the 2020 Beirut Port explosion. The report highlights the efforts of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and local NGOs in supporting survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), individuals suffering from deteriorated psychosocial well-being, persons with disabilities (PwDs), and older persons. The project aims to enhance the capacity of these organizations to provide critical social services, including shelter, psychosocial support, health services, and livelihoods opportunities, particularly for those who have been disproportionately affected by the crises.
Key components of the project include expanding support for GBV survivors, enhancing mental health services through initiatives like Step-by-Step (SbS) and Self Help Plus (SH+), and improving access to healthcare and rehabilitation services for PwDs and older persons. The project also addresses the needs of migrant domestic workers and refugees, who face heightened vulnerabilities. Capacity building for NGOs and coordination with government entities like the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) are emphasized to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of these interventions.
