Mission
「一般社団法人地域安全学会」は、生活者の立場から地域社会の安全問題を考え、地域社会の安全性の向上に寄与することを目的として、1986年12月に設立されました。地域の安全問題のように、社会存立の基本にかかわる問題の解明と解決には、社会のあらゆる分野での連絡と意思の疎通が必要で、自然科学ばかりでなく、人文社会科学を含めた多方面の協力が求められます。そのため、地域安全学会は、横断的な幅広い大学等の研究者・民間企業等の技術者・国や地方自治体の実務家が互いに協力しあって、地震等の自然災害ばかりではなく、さまざまな人為的災害を対象として地域の安全問題に関する研究を行ない、研究発表会や国際会議・シンポジウムで自由に意見を交換し合い、具体的な提言をしてきています。地域の安全問題に関心がある方々の情報交換と相互協力の場として、地域安全学会は、その役割を果たしていきます。
Institute of Social Safety Science (ISSS) was founded in December 1986 with a mission to contribute to improving the safety of society by taking a citizen’s perspective.
Safety is an essential component in the functioning of society and in our everyday lives. Explaining and solving the problems of safety requires breaking the traditional barriers between academic fields and easing the communication flow between them. It is necessary to encourage multidisciplinary linkages, between the natural sciences, the humanities and the social sciences. Accordingly, ISSS promotes collaboration between academic, professionals, engineers and public experts, and researches issues of safety associated with anthropogenic disasters, earthquakes, and other natural disasters.
Furthermore, ISSS arranges technical conventions, international conferences and symposia for exchanging ideas and proposes concrete plans to solve the problems of safety for society.
ISSS serves people interested in the safety of society by providing them with opportunities for exchanging information and collaborating in joint projects.
Voluntary Commitments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
