11th World Urban Forum (WUF11) : Transforming Our Cities for a Better Urban Future
This will be the first time that the WUF, convened by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), will take place in Eastern Europe. Representatives of national, regional and local governments, academics, business people, community leaders, urban planners will be among the thousands of people are expected to attend WUF11 which is co-organized by Poland’s Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy and the Municipal Office of Katowice.

7th National Conference for Promoting Disaster Risk Reduction (Bosai Kokutai)
The year 2022 marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake Memorial Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution (DRI). National Workshop “Build Back Better after COVID-19 and the Impact of Climate Change on Sustainable Development”
This workshop comes as part of Egypt’s national efforts to build resilience to disasters to reduce their risks on sustainable development plans, by integrating biological hazards, as well as the method of adaptation to climate change in policies, plans, and programs at all levels, within the framework of cooperation between the Egyptian Cabinet Information and Decision Support Centre (IDSC) and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) in implementing the regional initiative “Building back better after COVID-19”.

Technical meeting on COVID-19 and sustainable recovery in the tourism sector
The purpose of the technical meeting is to discuss current and emerging issues in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Particular focus will be on policies, strategies and good practices that work towards a safe and sustainable recovery and to advance decent and sustainable work in the sector. The aim is to adopt conclusions, including recommendations for future action by the International Labour Organization and its Members.

International Recovery Forum

The International Recovery Forum, established in 2005, convenes a broad range of senior policymakers and practitioners to exchange experiences and facilitate discussion on challenges to resilient recovery and opportunities for building back better. It is a forum designed to generate ideas and collaboration through dialogue and debate, sharing of experiences and the latest evidence in disaster recovery. The forum is coordinated annually in Kobe, Japan, by the International Recovery Platform (IRP) Secretariat, in close consultation with the IRP Steering Committee.

The annual forum is organized around themes to address key prevailing priorities and gaps in knowledge and practice for recovery and building back better. The forum’s themes link with the outcomes and lessons emerging from previous IRP Forums and other relevant global events, in order to advance the field. The International Recovery Forum is among the key activities managed by IRP in support of its mandate to share experiences and learning among countries and all relevant stakeholders, explicitly designated in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030.
