Featured PDNAs

PDNA is a government-led exercise, with integrated support from the United Nations, the European Commission, the World Bank and other national and international actors. A PDNA pulls together information into a single, consolidated report, information on the physical impacts of a disaster, the economic value of the damages and losses, the human impacts as experienced by the affected population, and the resulting early and long-term recovery needs and priorities.

The Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) evaluates the damages and losses from the impacts of Typhoon Ketsana, and addresses needs for recovery, resilient reconstruction and sustainable restoration of livelihoods of the affected population.
DLNA Madagascar 2008
The Government of Madagascar undertook a comprehensive damage and loss and needs assessment to ascertain the extent of the damages caused by the three consecutive cyclones in 2008, and to define a comprehensive and feasible recovery plan.
The aim of the assessment is to identify priority areas to support the Government of Bangladesh in cyclone recovery efforts as well as to design a disaster management strategy.

Nepal PDNA 2017
The Post Flood Recovery Needs Assessment offers an objective basis for recovery planning and measures for reducing future risks. It estimates the impact of the 2017 floods that affected the Terai region and to identify medium-term recovery needs.
Marshall Islands 2016
This report is a rapid socio-economic assessment of the sectors impacted by the 2015-2016 drought in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. This assessment is the first PDNA of a drought in the Pacific.

The PDNA of the 2014 Pico do Fogo volcanic eruption provides the country of Cabo Verde with an assessment based on an internationally accepted methodology for resource and partnership mobilization in order to recover and reconstruct after a disaster event
This report presents an economic impact assessment of the Boxing Day 2015 flooding on small and medium sized businesses (SMEs). It is aimed to support the evidence that the Calderdale Flood Commission collates to make recommendations to Government, the Council, the Environment Agency, the community and businesses, about the effects of recent flooding and lessons for possible future flooding. Grenadines Floods 2016
This report provides a rapid damage and loss assessment to inform the Government ’s recovery planning. It includes recommendations to further incorporate disaster risk reduction and management into land use and physical planning decision-making processes.
2016 Malawi Drought PDNA
This PDNA provides an analysis of the physical, socioeconomic, and human impacts of the 2015-2016 drought in Malawi. It analyzes the challenges and lessons from the ongoing drought response and provides recommendations for improved drought resilience.
